Unmasked No. 8
30”x40” acrylic on canvas.
This series begins with a freely and intuitively created underpainting. Portions are then masked and selectively revealed, allowing only certain moments of color and movement to emerge. The result is a subtle pop of color — enough to gently brighten and bring energy to a space while maintaining a sense of calm.
Conceptually, the work reflects how we show up in our relationships and in life. Each layer of paint and mark represents lived experience — moments that shape us, whether visible or hidden. The masked surface becomes a metaphor for choice: while every layer remains part of who we are, we ultimately decide how we present ourselves to the world.
